Sean M. O'Brien

Sean O’Brien is a trial and appellate litigator whose practice spans state and federal courts across the country.

 

As a member of the Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice Team, Sean defends members of the financial services industry and advises consumer-facing businesses in complex individual and class action claims brought pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and other consumer-oriented statutes. Sean also provides guidance to clients in developing compliance protocols that reflect state and federal mandates, in addition to navigating regulatory enforcement actions.

 

As a member of the Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Team, Sean handles a variety of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract claims, commercial torts, corporate governance and shareholder litigation, and bankruptcy-related litigation. Sean provides guidance to clients facing complex legal challenges and is adept at resolving matters quickly and efficiently.  Sean also works closely with the Sports, Entertainment and Hospitality Industry and Cannabis Practices, helping to advise clients embroiled in disputes that have, or could potentially, lead to litigation.

 

Sean serves on the Firm’s Pro Bono Advisory Committee and is a member of the Western District of New York’s Pro Bono Program.
