Lippes Mathias LLP today announced that Jeremy J. Wolk has joined the firm as a partner in its Rochester office. As a member of the firm’s corporate practice team, Wolk brings more than 25 years of experience guiding companies through complex corporate, strategic, and intellectual property transactions, offering a business-focused perspective that blends sophisticated insight with practical execution.

Wolk counsels companies and investors on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, independent sponsor transactions, private equity and venture capital investments, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and enterprise-level commercial arrangements. He is particularly known for leading transactions involving the acquisition, development, and commercialization of technology and IP assets. His practice also encompasses inbound and outbound licensing, cloud and “as-a-service” agreements, outsourcing arrangements, and data, cybersecurity, and technology transactions across industries such as software, media, health services, fashion, advanced manufacturing, consumer products, and emerging technologies.

“Jeremy’s arrival in our Rochester office delivers something significant to our clients in that market: an experienced corporate attorney who has led sophisticated transactions from both inside and outside counsel roles,” Kevin J. Cross, managing partner and chairman, said. “Just as important, Jeremy strengthens our broader national corporate team with a deep bench of experience in deals involving complex IP, technology, and cross-border commercial assets.”

Wolk frequently serves as outside general counsel to companies at all stages of growth, providing business-aligned guidance on corporate governance, commercial operations, and strategic initiatives. He also represents the investors and financial institutions that support and fund their growth. His experience leading buy-side, sell-side, and IP-intensive transactions allows him to help clients protect value, drive growth, and advance strategic objectives.

Before joining Lippes Mathias, Jeremy spent more than a decade as a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP. Earlier in his career, he served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel, and corporate secretary at iVillage Inc., a NASDAQ-listed public company acquired by NBC Universal for $600 million. During his seven years as general counsel, he advised on corporate, securities, and strategic transactions across the company’s online, print, television, and consumer products businesses. This experience gives him a deep understanding of organizational demands, the pressures on the C-Suite and in-house legal teams, and the considerations that shape business decisions.

Clients praise Wolk’s ability to “speak geek” – translating business priorities, technical complexity, and legal risk into clear and actionable strategies.  This multidisciplinary skillset is especially valuable in transactions involving the development and monetization of technology and intellectual property.

Wolk earned his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1998 and his M.B.A. in Finance from Hofstra’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business in 1999. He received a B.S. from Ithaca College in 1994.  He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation.  As a former chair of the Monroe Community College Foundation and president of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester, he continues to serve on the executive committees of both organizations’ boards of directors. He has also served as assistant corporate secretary of Greater Rochester Enterprise for over a decade.

His professional recognitions include listings in The Best Lawyers in America® (2016-2026), where he was also named “Lawyer of the Year” in Business Organizations in both 2022 and 2024. He is ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for Corporate/M&A (Upstate New York) (2018 -2025), and was selected to Upstate New York Super Lawyers® (2013-2016). He has also been a recurring selection to The Daily Record’s Power 15 List for Intellectual Property and a deal team member of several industry award-winning transactions.  Additional honors include the Jewish Federation of Rochester Benjamin Goldstein Young Leadership Award, the Rochester Business Journal 40 Under 40 Award, and The Daily Record Up and Coming Attorney Award.
