BUFFALO, N.Y. –On March 24, 2021, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP will host a webinar titled “A Tale of Two Cities: Commercial Real Estate & Cannabis,” in collaboration with Dejoy, Knauf & Blood LLP, a certified public accounting firm based in Rochester, N.Y. Attorneys Thomas B. Hughes and Ryan V. Stearns, Co-Leaders of Lippes Mathias’ Cannabis Practice Team, will present during the webinar alongside professionals from Dejoy, Knauf & Blood.

The webinar will explain how the commercial real estate industry can prepare for the potential legalization of cannabis in New York State, while breaking down the potential benefits and impacts of cannabis’ possible introduction into New York State’s commercial real estate climate. Adhering to a question and answer style format, the webinar will create an informative but conversational atmosphere, with the presenters taking pre-submitted questions from the audience.

Tom Hughes is a member of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Team where he assists clients with entity formation, restructuring, and dissolution; contract drafting and negotiating; corporate governance and compliance; and other general corporate matters. Tom was named Team Co-Leader of the firm’s Cannabis Practice Team in February 2021.

Ryan Stearns’ practice focuses on commercial real estate, including the representation of public REITs, private equity groups, and investors in connection with the acquisition, sale, development, leasing, ground leasing, and financing of a variety of asset classes, including office buildings, mixed-use projects, hotels, airports, entertainment districts, medical office buildings, fitness centers, multifamily and residential developments, industrial parks and retail centers. Ryan was named Team Co-Leader of the firm’s Cannabis Practice Team, along with Tom Hughes, in February 2021.
