Lippes Mathias LLP today announced that John J. Koeppel, partner and leader of the firm’s private equity and independent sponsor teams, will speak on the “Legal Matters” panel at the 2025 US Emerging Manager Institute (US EMI) Summit on Nov. 20 in New York City. 

The session will offer practical insights and trends facing independent sponsors and emerging managers in structuring their firms, raising capital, and closing deals. Topics will include the pros and cons of the fund vs the independent sponsor model, along with the rationale for the exceptional growth of the independent sponsor model. 

The US EMI Summit is a comprehensive accelerator for new and growing firms investing in the United States. The event will bring together approximately 100 attendees, including emerging managers and independent sponsors (either pre-launch or in the early stages of their growth).  Lippes Mathias is one of two law firm sponsors for the US EMI.

John J. Koeppel is a partner and the team leader of the private equity and independent sponsor practice teams at Lippes Mathias LLP. He is a corporate attorney with more than 25 years of experience and has led over 250 transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, fund formations, co-investments, financings, and cross-border private equity deals.
