
Bio
A highly skilled, accomplished and experienced advocate and legal counselor, Mr. Rodgers possesses demonstrated insight and depth gained in the course of his more than 25-years’ experience in commercial and other complex litigation, business planning and dispute resolution, and a proven track record in the effective representation of multiple classes of interests in business and insolvency-related disputes, transactions and litigation. His practice is devoted largely to complex business litigation, commercial and business planning, sophisticated commercial contracts, commercial insolvency related matters and appellate advocacy. Mr. Rodgers has also successfully litigated and defended class action, derivative and business tort claims on behalf of commercial clients. Throughout his distinguished legal career, he has represented many diverse clients and client constituencies, including individual and institutional plaintiffs and defendants (including many financial institutions), creditors' committees, trustees, attorneys, law firms and jurists, and has twice been appointed to serve as Chapter 11 Trustee in complicated commercial Chapter 11 cases in the Northern and Southern Districts of New York.
Mr. Rodgers achievements have been consistently recognized with an “AV Preeminent”® peer rating in Litigation, Commercial Law and Bankruptcy by Martindale-Hubbell® and Lawyers.com®. John has also been repeatedly named to the Upstate New York Super Lawyers® list (2013-2019) and has twice been honored with a “Top 25” rating among Hudson Valley attorneys in recent years.
Over the years, Mr. Rodgers has authored materials, presented, and served as a panel member for legal education programs sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, National Business Institute, Financial Executives Institute and Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association. Additionally, he authored an article appearing in NY Litigator Magazine entitled "The Remarkable Invulnerability of the Unconditional Guaranty" published in the Fall, 2016 edition (Volume 21, No. 2).
He is an original member of the New York State Bar Association sponsored Albany, New York CDLHL (LAP) Committee, which he co-chaired in 2016-2017 and from which he has received multiple volunteer recognition awards, and is now serving a second three year term on the Albany County Bar Association's Standing Committee on Judicial Qualifications, which interviews, evaluates and publishes its findings concerning the qualifications of judicial candidates within New York's Third Judicial District.
