BUFFALO, N.Y. – On December 9, 2020, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP Partner and Private Equity Practice Team Leader John J. Koeppel presented on Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ) to more than 50 investment bankers affiliated with Oberon Securities. In his presentation, John discusses the benefits of the QOZ program to selling owners who have a business located in a Qualified Opportunity Zone. John also explains how business owners can redeploy their QOZ investments to defer and/or eliminate future capital gains post-sale. 

John is a corporate lawyer who has successfully structured, negotiated and closed over 250 transactions over the past two decades, which typically involve mergers and acquisitions, fund formations and investments, and various private equity transactions (including co-investments, venture financings and cross-border deals). He also works with clients on reviewing and structuring Qualified Opportunity Zone investments.
