Mina N. Mirzaie, an associate in Lippes Mathias LLP's government & corporate investigations practice team, will present on a Council on Governmental Ethics Laws webinar titled "Public Corruption Post-McDonnell: Considerations for the Present and Future" on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 3-4 p.m. EST. 

The presentation will examine the evolving landscape of public corruption law following the Supreme Court's landmark decision in McDonnell v. United States. The session will explore how federal changes through SCOTUS have reshaped corruption theories and identify downstream impacts for state-side ethics practitioners. 

Panelists will clarify the post-McDonnell definition of "official act," survey recent Supreme Court decisions, and provide a practical framework for identifying a "thing of value" under federal and state regimes. Attendees will gain insights on charging and defense considerations, compliance guardrails, and policy implications for ethics agencies.
