BUFFALO, NY – Brendan H. Little and Richard M. Scherer, Jr., partners at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, will present at the ACA International 2018 Convention on July 24 in Nashville, TN. The topic for their presentation, “Shoring Up Compliance Management Systems,” will explore compliance management as it relates to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and look to best practices and litigation strategies for dealing with disputed debts and skip tracing.

ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals, is the largest membership organization in the credit and collection industry and brings together third-party collection agencies, law firms, asset buying companies, creditors, and vendor affiliates.

At Lippes Mathias, Mr. Little focuses his practice primarily on commercial and business litigation matters including contractual disputes, shareholder derivative actions, claims asserted pursuant to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and real property litigation. Additionally, he devotes a significant amount of his time traveling the country defending creditors against individual and class claims that the creditors have violated FDCPA, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Mr. Scherer concentrates his practice primarily in state and federal business litigation. His business litigation practice involves defending and prosecuting matters across New York State and in federal courts across the country. Mr. Scherer’s broad business litigation experience includes matters involving breach of contract, earn-out disputes, shareholder disputes, contractual indemnity claims, and defending claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
