Lippes Mathias today announced the addition of Mitchell R. Ghaneie, a registered patent attorney, and Josephine R. Chen, a patent agent, to its Jacksonville office as members of the firm’s growing intellectual property practice team, which boasts nearly 30 attorneys across the country.

Ghaneie, a partner, assists a range of businesses and individuals, including startups, independent inventors, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, and businesses of all sizes with protecting their intellectual property. Since 2015, he has focused his practice on securing intellectual property for his clients by submitting patent, trademark, and copyright applications, as well as formulating trade secret policies for employers and drafting licensing agreements.  Over the years, Ghaneie has filed and prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ghaneie also aids clients in developing pre-suit enforcement campaigns for his clients, which may include monitoring intellectual property on various social media platforms and online retail sites. Ghaneie received his undergraduate degree in 2011 from Florida State University, and in 2014, graduated with his J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law. He is admitted to practice in both Florida and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has been recognized as a rising star by Florida Super Lawyers in 2022 and 2023.

Chen, who is a patent agent registered to provide patent prosecution services before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, assists clients with the preparation, filing, and prosecution of U.S., Taiwan, and PCT patent applications. She is fluent in English and Mandarin and has coordinated with foreign associates regarding foreign patent prosecutions in Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and beyond. Her experience includes working with professors and physicians at medical universities for global patent procurement for medical centers and hospitals as well as assisting clients in the technical arts with mechanical devices and methods.
