Lippes Mathias LLP today announced the promotion of attorneys James J. Campisi of the firm's Clarence office and Anthony M. Kroese of the firm's Buffalo office, from senior associate to partner. Campisi concentrates in insurance recovery, counseling & litigation, while Kroese focuses his practice on commercial real estate. 

"James and Anthony are standard bearers for the work ethic and desire for internal and external involvement that defines partnership at our firm," Kevin J. Cross, Lippes Mathias' managing partner and chairman, said. Campisi assists clients with risk and insurance matters, including drafting risk and insurance terms in commercial contracts and marshaling claims for insurance recoveries. His practice was previously devoted to insurance coverage litigation, where he handled disputes across all types of coverages and counseled carriers on duty to defend disputes, proprietary and standard exclusions, additional insured coverage claims and defenses, priority of coverage, and construction defect coverage and exclusions. Prior to joining Lippes Mathias, Campisi served as in-house counsel to several of Western New York's largest companies, where he negotiated and drafted commercial contracts, advised senior leaders on strategic initiatives and risk assessments, and supported boards of directors in a corporate governance capacity. 

In addition to his role as a member of the firm’s commercial real estate practice team, Kroese leads the firm’s Summer Associate Program that he has elevated into a structured, professional experience that now spans multiple firm locations, reflecting both his commitment to the next generation of attorneys and the Firm's continued investment in its talent pipeline. Anthony focuses his legal practice on representing owners, developers and investors nationwide in commercial real estate and finance transactions, including corporate term loans and revolving credit facilities, mezzanine loans, and commercial mortgage-backed securities financings. He also counsels clients on commercial real estate-related corporate matters, including corporate formation, governance and dissolution, merger and acquisition due diligence, zoning ordinances, and corporate transaction profiles. Drawing on prior commercial and real estate litigation experience, Kroese advises clients on dispute mitigation strategies and resolution options. In the community, Kroese is involved in charitable and community organizations such as Blood Cancer United and Amherst Youth Hockey Association.  Prior to leading the Summer Associate Program, he served as chair of the firm's internal social committee.
