Lippes Mathias LLP is proud to share that its partner, Scott S. Allen, Jr., has been promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, where he serves as a preliminary hearing officer within the Judge Advocate Division. 

The promotion ceremony was held on Friday, November 21, at the firm's Buffalo office. 

About Scott S. Allen, Jr. 

Former Assistant United States Attorney Scott S. Allen Jr. focuses his practice on government investigations and compliance matters. He represents defendants, targets, witnesses, and businesses during civil and criminal investigations and related litigation brought by federal and state regulators and prosecutors. As a member of the government and corporate investigations practice team, Allen has also challenged vague or unconstitutional New York State laws through federal and state lawsuits. Additionally, Allen uses his previous prosecutorial experience to conduct internal investigations for businesses that suspect fraud within their operation. 

As a federal prosecutor, Allen oversaw white-collar fraud and child exploitation investigations and prosecuted federal felonies in the Western District of New York. Allen has logged hundreds of hours in federal and military courts, and with seven years of prosecutorial experience, has developed a fine-tuned understanding of how to lead an investigation and build a viable case. 

Allen is a 2010 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where he was a member of the National Trial Team and Managing Editor of one of the school’s four law journals. Allen grew up on a family farm in Baldwinsville, New York, and takes pride in representing Upstate New York farmers. He ran varsity track in high school and college and is an active volunteer with Friends of the Night People in Buffalo.
