Four Lippes Mathias Partners Included in The Rochester Business Journal’s 2026 Power Lists for Law

Lippes Mathias LLP today announced that four of its partners have been named to the Rochester Business Journal's 2026 Power Lists for Law. Christin M. Cornetta, Kevin J. Cross, and Michael R. Overmyer were named to the Power 50 Law list; Svetlana K. (Lana) Ivy was named to the Power List for Litigation; and Overmyer was also named to the Power List for Real Estate Law.
According to the Rochester Business Journal, “The people on these lists help make sure the legal needs of Rochester’s companies and residents are met, and they have helped their own organizations and their clients navigate unprecedented changes in recent years. They are working to push the Rochester legal community forward during a time of uncertainty, and we are excited to see what they are able to accomplish going forward.”
About Christin M. Cornetta
Christin M. Cornetta, who was recently elected president of the Monroe County Bar Association, focuses her practice on insurance coverage, insurance counseling, and complex commercial litigation. She counsels clients on insurance coverage issues, performs detailed policy and insurance program reviews, drafts insurance procurement requirements in contracts and subcontracts, and works with insurance brokers to optimize coverage for clients.
Cornetta has substantial experience formulating detailed insurance coverage analyses and representing policyholders in complex insurance recovery litigation. Her litigation experience includes representing a Fortune 500 company's interests as a shareholder of a debtor in bankruptcy reorganization proceedings and in companion insurance recovery litigation for asbestos-related liabilities.
Prior to joining Lippes Mathias, Cornetta served as law clerk to Hon. Marian W. Payson, United States magistrate judge, U.S. District Court, Western District of New York.
About Kevin J. Cross
Kevin J. Cross serves as managing partner and chairman of Lippes Mathias and leads the firm's executive committee. As managing partner, Cross is charged with responsibility for all of the firm's offices, attorneys and staff. He coordinates the firm's strategic direction, implementation of initiatives and goals, and attorney recruitment.
Cross concentrates his practice on state and federal business litigation, as well as environmental litigation matters. With more than 20 years of experience, he has handled cases in complex high-stakes litigation. His work includes counseling businesses, officers and directors, investors, political organizations, not-for-profit organizations and corporations' in-house counsel. In his litigation practice, Cross has handled complex contract disputes, trust and estates matters, products liability issues, construction concerns and other significant civil litigation.
In his environmental practice, Cross has been involved with complex multiparty environmental litigation, including CERCLA actions, navigation law claims and toxic tort suits. He coordinates with technical consultants and regulatory agencies and has handled compliance issues, litigation, and environmental aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
About Svetlana K. Ivy
Lana Ivy focuses her practice on high-stakes commercial disputes in New York state and federal courts and serves as the firm's appellate practice team leader. She has substantial experience resolving disputes early as well as seeing cases through arbitration or trial and through the appellate process. Ivy has represented clients in industries including financial services, energy, life settlements, health care, telecommunications, food and beverage manufacturing, and payroll services.
At the trial level, Ivy has litigated business disputes arising out of asset purchase agreements, trust agreements, vendor agreements, transactions to purchase life insurance policies on the secondary market, employment agreements and other contracts. She also frequently litigates trust and estate matters in Surrogate Courts around New York and has represented numerous parties in CPLR Article 78 proceedings challenging agency actions, as well as defended municipalities and agency boards against such challenges.
Ivy has briefed and argued cases at the Appellate Division level throughout New York state and before the New York Court of Appeals. She regularly handles or consults other attorneys on motions for leave to appeal to the Court of Appeals and has worked on a pro bono basis with the Monroe County Public Defender's Office on criminal appeals. Ivy is a co-author of the New York Appellate Practice treatise, published by LexisNexis, and has been a frequent speaker on trial and appellate issues for Monroe County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association CLE programs.
About Michael R. Overmyer
Michael R. Overmyer, leader of the firm’s Rochester office, concentrates his practice in banking and financial services, representing financial organizations in complex structured finance transactions, including affordable housing and historic tax credit projects. His affordable housing transaction experience includes bond purchases and credit enhancements for tax-exempt bond transactions.
Overmyer also handles secured transactions involving asset-based and commercial real estate financing, revolving credit facilities, mezzanine loans, and loan participations and syndications, and represents commercial lenders in public finance transactions. He serves as office leader of the firm's Rochester office.
