Lippes Mathias LLP today announced that Aaron Knights has joined the firm as a partner in its Buffalo office. Knights is a member of the firm’s business and commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, cross border, and construction litigation practice teams, where he focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

For more than 20 years, Knights has represented businesses, multinational companies, financial institutions, foreign governments, and high-net-worth individuals in high-stakes disputes in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States, as well as in regulatory proceedings and private arbitrations. He handles a variety of commercial disputes, including partnership and shareholder disputes, shareholder oppression and derivative actions, failed business ventures, contractual indemnity disputes, trade secret and restrictive covenant matters, real estate transactions, and construction disputes. Knights brings a common-sense approach to dispute resolution that is tailored to each client’s specific goals.

Knights also has significant experience handling cross-border disputes. He has represented non-U.S. companies, individuals, and governments before U.S. courts in a variety of commercial and other matters, including lawsuits brought under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Alien Tort Statute, as well as disputes over intellectual property, fraud, real estate transactions, and failed business ventures.

"Aaron is a respected fixture in the Buffalo legal community, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the firm," Kevin J. Cross, managing partner and chairman at Lippes Mathias, said. "Bringing him on was a deliberate, strategic decision, and his ties to Washington, D.C., and New York City give our commercial litigation practice real reach as it continues to grow nationally. Our clients will feel the benefit of that strength right away."

Before entering private practice, Knights served as law clerk to Hon. Rufus G. King III of the District of Columbia Superior Court. He earned his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2002 and his B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Miami University of Ohio in 1999.

Knights is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® 2026. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association, and he serves on the boards of directors of Field and Fork Network, Orleans Community Health, and the Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund.
