Bio
William P. Golderman is a partner in the Albany office of Lippes Mathias LLP. Bill practices in the areas of labor and employment law, employee discipline, administrative law, civil litigation, and professional licensing and discipline. He represents public sector labor unions and their members and has lectured and trained hundreds of public employees on the Taylor Law and their respective collective bargaining agreements. In addition, he advises corporate clients on a wide range of business matters, including the representation of medical practices and veterinary practices on operational and business-related issues.
Bill has decades of experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements and employment-related contracts. He was involved in the first New York State/ Police Benevolent Association of the NYS Troopers, Inc.(PBA ) interest arbitration in 1995, a landmark proceeding under the Taylor Law. He continues to negotiate contracts on behalf of labor organizations and public-sector employees.
Bill has extensive experience representing correctional officers and their unions in high-profile and complex labor matters. Notably, he represented the correctional officers’ union in connection with the Clinton Correctional Facility escape, advocating on behalf of officers during investigations and disciplinary proceedings. More recently, in 2025, he played a key role in addressing the statewide correctional officers’ union work stoppage, negotiating directly with New York State officials to help resolve the dispute and facilitate officers’ return to work.
Bill has been deeply involved in community leadership for decades. He served on the Board of the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center (JCC) for 25 years in numerous leadership capacities, including as President from June 2007 through 2009. In recognition of his service and dedication, the JCC awarded Bill and his wife the Pillars of the Community Award in 2012. He currently serves as Vice President of the B’nai B’rith Foundation, which provides annual financial assistance to individuals and families in need of rental assistance.
Since 2018, Bill has served on the Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)) Northeast New York Chapter Board, supporting research and advocacy efforts focused on Type 1 diabetes. He remains active in numerous other community organizations and regularly volunteers his professional photography skills at community-wide events.
