BUFFALO, NY – Carol E. Heckman, a partner at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, is participating in the Bar Association of Erie County’s upcoming seminar, “What New York Lawyers Need to Know About American Indian Law” on October 9.

In the hour-long presentation, Ms. Heckman is addressing the topic that is rarely taught in law school and does not appear on the bar exam, yet is one that many New York State lawyers will encounter.

With 40 years of experience as a trial and appellate attorney, including eight years on the federal court bench, Judge Heckman (Ret.) focuses her legal practice at Lippes Mathias on arbitrations and mediations, commercial litigation, and Indian law. She serves as the firm’s Indian Law Practice team co-leader, and is on the American Arbitration Association’s panel of arbitrators and mediators.
