Press Releases
Ian A. Shavitz, partner, and team leader of Lippes Mathias’ environment & energy practice team, was selected to participate in one of 10 regionally focused roundtables hosted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
The Southwest roundtable allowed stakeholders to engage and discuss their experiences with implementing the definition of "waters of the United States," including challenges and opportunities within their geographic areas. The roundtables also provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss geographic similarities and differences, particular water resources that are characteristic of or unique to each region, and regionally specific feedback about implementation.
Ian has more than 20 years of experience counseling and advocating for clients on environmental and land use issues associated with developing large-scale infrastructure, energy, and commercial projects; securing federal, state, and local governmental permits and approvals; advising sellers, purchasers, lenders, and investors on environmental issues associated with corporate, real estate and energy transactions; and advocating for favorable policy decisions and legislation before Congress. Ian’s clients have included corporations, municipalities, developers, investors, state and local governments, private equity funds, and Indian tribes.
