Ian A. Shavitz, a partner at Lippes Mathias LLP, spoke at Perrin Conferences' Environmental Risk & PFAS Litigation Conference on June 16-17, 2026, at the New York City Bar Association. 

Shavitz joined fellow panelists for a session titled "Powering the Cloud, Managing the Risk: Environmental Exposures and Insurance Implications of Data Centers." The session examined the environmental insurance implications of data center chemical contamination and a range of operational risk factors driving increased regulatory and legal scrutiny of the sector. Topics included air and water pollution, chemical and fuel spills, backup power systems, fire suppression agents such as aqueous film-forming foam, e-waste handling, and heavy water use for cooling. 

The conference took place at the New York City Bar Association in New York City. 

About Ian A. Shavitz 

Ian A. Shavitz is a partner and the team leader of the firm's environment and energy practice team, and a member of the firm's executive committee. Shavitz has more than 20 years of experience counseling and advocating for clients on environmental and land use issues associated with developing large-scale infrastructure, energy, and commercial projects; securing federal, state and local governmental permits and approvals; advising sellers, purchasers, lenders, and investors on environmental issues associated with corporate, real estate and energy transactions; and advocating for favorable policy decisions and legislation before Congress.
