BUFFALO, N.Y. – On April 16, 2021, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP Partner, Hon. Carol E. Heckman (Ret.) will speak on a panel at The American Bar Association’s 2021 Dispute Resolution Spring Conference. The theme of this year’s panel, which is being held virtually from April 14 to April 17, is “Agility, Disruption and Reinvention: ADR in a New World.”
Examining recent events affecting the field of dispute resolution, the conference will focus on identifying areas where the field has adapted and what additional reinvention may be necessary or beneficial moving forward. The title of Carol’s panel discussion is “Post-Pandemic Arbitration: Old School or New Age?”
With more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer and judge, Carol has an active practice as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and conducts arbitrations in most major metropolitan areas with a particular concentration in New York City, In addition to arbitrations and mediations, Carol was recently selected as a Fellow to the College of Commercial Arbitrators, an exclusive group of commercial arbitrators representing the best in the United States. Carol also engages in litigation counseling and trial work for American Indian tribes and a group of business clients, providing representation in government investigations, complex commercial matters, taxation, and gaming. She has tried numerous cases as a lawyer, a judge, and an arbitrator in a broad range of disputes.
