BUFFALO, N.Y. –  On March 24, 2021, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP Partner Hon. Carol E. Heckman (Ret.) will serve as a guest panelist during a New York State Bar Association Conference titled “Arbitration and Mediation 2021: Best Practices Working Through – and Beyond – COVID.” The conference, sponsored by Fordham Law School, will analyze arbitration and mediation best practices in the time of COVID-19 with panelists offering appraisal of their experiences as arbitrators, and lessons learned. 

Carol will be joined by Hon. Ariel Belen (Ret.), JAMS; William H. Crosby, Jr., Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Interpublic Group; and Laura A. Kaster, Independent Arbitrator and Mediator for her panel, titled “Perspectives of Arbitrators and Mediators –– Lessons Learned from COVID and Best Practices Going Forward.”

With more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer and judge, Carol has an active practice as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and conducts arbitrations in most major metropolitan areas with a particular concentration in New York City. In addition to arbitrations and mediations, Carol was recently selected as a Fellow to the College of Commercial Arbitrators, an exclusive group of commercial arbitrators representing the best in the United States. Carol also engages in litigation counseling and trial work for American Indian tribes and a group of business clients, providing representation in government investigations, complex commercial matters, taxation, and gaming. She has tried numerous cases as a lawyer, a judge, and an arbitrator in a broad range of disputes.
