Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP Expands its Washington D.C. Office with Additions of Margaret A. Hackbarth and William L. Niebling

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Margaret A. Hackbarth and William L. Niebling, have joined Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as of counsel and senior associate, respectively.

The addition of Mr. Niebling continues the firm’s recent growth in its Environmental and Energy Practice, and Ms. Hackbarth’s significant experience and expertise in construction law and development matters will greatly benefit clients throughout the firm, especially in the real estate, environmental, and litigation practice groups.

Ms. Hackbarth has both in-house and law firm experience in commercial transactions, real estate, construction, insurance, claims, vendor compliance and litigation. Her extensive legal experience includes construction litigation and real estate transactions, risk management for a hotel management company, serving as general counsel and vice president of risk management for a construction company and division counsel to a publicly traded residential development company. Ms. Hackbarth is an adjunct professor at American University School of Law, where she currently co-teaches a construction law class, and serves on the Leadership Academy Steering Committee for the Association of Corporate Counsel. Ms. Hackbarth received her J.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University.

Mr. Niebling concentrates his practice primarily on energy and environmental issues, focusing on a wide range of regulatory, transactional, land use, and infrastructure development matters. Drawing from his experience as a high-level political appointee at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, senior staffer for several U.S. Senators, and a legislative assistant for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Mr. Niebling also works closely with the firm’s Public Law & Policy and Government Investigations & Enforcement Actions practices. Prior to joining Lippes Mathias, he served on the political leadership team at the U.S. EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. Mr. Niebling received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.
