BUFFALO, NY – While the attorneys and staff at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP serve on a wide range of volunteer boards at various groups and organizations across the region, a number of internal discussions took place about identifying a way where the firm could become more involved in helping the community.
As a result of these efforts, the firm has announced a yearlong volunteer plan to support Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo. Throughout 2017, in March, June, September and December a group of approximately 12 volunteers will work a shift from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various locations throughout Buffalo and Lackawanna where Habitat for Humanity builds homes.
“This is a great opportunity for our firm to not only give back to the community, but build and strengthen personal relationships within the firm by working closely together as a team, especially on a construction site which can be challenging work,” said Kevin J. Cross, managing partner, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP. “We received some very thoughtful suggestions, but once this plan was rolled out internally, it generated a lot of excitement.”
Most of the construction work performed by Habitat for Humanity is renovations or rebuilds of existing homes donated to the organization.
