ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In November 2022, Amy L. Reichhart joined Lippes Mathias as a partner, in the firm’s Environment & Energy practice in Rochester, New York. Reichhart concentrates her practice on matters involving site investigation and remediation, brownfields redevelopment, environmental regulation and enforcement, as well as all phases of litigation. Her established reputation and extensive experience significantly contribute to the firm’s growing environmental practice. In addition, with Amy on board, the firm has now expanded the footprint of our environmental practice into Rochester, N.Y., where our we opened our first office in October 2020. Reichhart has overseen numerous complex investigations, remediations and redevelopments under the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program and New York State Superfund Program. She also represented a large industrial client in relation to a complex EPA Superfund sediment site in Region 2 and serves as a key member of a team defending a large manufacturing company against a CERCLA cost-recovery and class-action litigation.
With the infusion of experience brought on by Reichhart’s addition, the firm has now created a stand-alone Brownfield & Superfund Cleanup and Redevelopment practice team. Amy, as team leader, is joined by a sophisticated, multidisciplinary group of attorneys and environmental engineers that also includes Ian A. Shavitz, partner and team leader of the firm’s Environment & Energy and Renewable Energy practice teams, Christina Bonanni, as Senior Associate that has many years of experience counseling on contamination matters, and Martin L. Doster, the firm’s senior environmental advisor and 32-year veteran of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Together, the team utilizes its legal and technical expertise and experience with federal and state laws and regulations governing the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites to assess and mitigate the risks and liabilities associated with hazardous wastes and other environmental contaminants on behalf of the firm’s clients.
“Amy has cemented herself as one of Western New York’s most qualified Brownfield-focused environmental attorneys,” Kevin J. Cross, Lippes Mathias’ managing partner and chairman, said. “To have her leading our Brownfield & Superfund Cleanup and Redevelopment Team is an absolute privilege, and she has great ideas and energy to enhance our work in the space.”
Reichhart graduated magna cum laude in 1999 from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and earned her J.D. from Pace University School of Law in 1999, graduating cum laude. Outside of her practice, she is a member of several prominent professional organizations that include the New York State Bar Association Environmental Law Section’s Hazardous Waste/Site Remediation Committee, on which she serves as co-chair; as a member-chair of the Genesee Finger Lakes Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association; and on the Monroe County Bar Association Environmental Law Committee, where she formerly served as both chair and as a member of the board of trustees.
