Hon. Carol E. Heckman (Ret.) Appointed as Co-Chair of the College of Commercial Arbitrators Education Committee

BUFFALO, NY – Lippes Mathias today announced that Hon. Carol E. Heckman (Ret.), partner and leader of the firm’s alternative dispute resolution practice team, has been appointed as co-chair of the College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA) Education Committee. In her role as co-chair, Carol will work with the education committee to provide educational resources to CCA Fellows to enhance their professional skills. These resources will include written guides and protocols, template procedural orders, as well as presentations on specific topics of interest. The education committee also targets advocates and neutrals by designing tools and seminars available to advocates and to neutrals that disseminate best practices for conducting fair and efficient arbitration proceedings.

With more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer and judge, Judge Heckman has an active practice as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and conducts arbitrations in most major metropolitan areas with a particular concentration in New York City. Judge Heckman was recently selected as a Fellow to the College of Commercial Arbitrators, an exclusive group of commercial arbitrators representing the best in the United States. In addition to arbitrations and mediations, Judge Heckman also engages in litigation counseling and trial work for American Indian tribes and a group of business clients, providing representation in government investigations, complex commercial matters, taxation, and gaming. She has tried numerous cases as a lawyer, a judge, and an arbitrator in a broad range of disputes.
