Partners Anoush Koroghlian-Scott and Lauren A. Suttell, both members of the firm’s health care practice team, presented at the New York State Bar Association Health Law Section’s 2023 fall meeting, which was held on October 26 at the Bar Center in Albany. Koroghlian-Scott’s presentation was titled “Legal and Regulatory Pitfalls in the Laboratory (Compliance)” and Suttell’s presentation as titled “Physician Practice Ownership and Implications: Article 45 Issues.” Koroghlian-Scott served as a program chair for the meeting.

Anoush Koroghlian-Scott is a partner in the firm’s health law practice team and brings nearly 30 years of experience having practiced health law in private practice and in-house at various hospitals in the Capital Region. As a member of the senior leadership team at a large community hospital and prior roles as risk management director and compliance officer in other regional facilities, Koroghlian-Scott has a unique understanding of health care operations and the daily challenges to delivering high-quality health care services in a cost-effective manner. Her clients include hospitals, physician practice groups, mental health providers, billing companies and individual practitioners. She serves as a strategic business partner on a wide range of transactional and operational matters and offers her clients practical, innovative solutions that align with strategic goals and initiatives.

Lauren A. Suttell provides corporate and regulatory counsel to health care providers, including health systems, hospitals, medical groups, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers, hospice, and individual practitioners. Her experience includes acquisitions and sales of health care private practices and the formation and organization of unique health care affiliations and collaborations, including national telehealth networks, accountable care organizations, independent physician associations, and practice management arrangements.  Additionally, Suttell’s health care experience is strengthened by her extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector.  As team leader of the firm’s not-for-profit practice team, she regularly provides guidance to not-for-profits in a variety of industries in all aspects of their organization and operation, including, but not limited to, obtaining federal and state tax exemption, tax-exemption compliance matters, and governance best practices, policies, and procedures.
