Mr. Scherer concentrates his practice primarily in state and federal business litigation and environmental compliance matters, His business litigation practice involves defending and prosecuting matters across New York State and in federal courts across the country. Mr. Scherer’s broad business litigation experience includes matters involving breach of contract, earn-out disputes, shareholder disputes, contractual indemnity claims, and defending claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
In his environmental compliance practice, Mr. Scherer counsels private and public companies in the environmental aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and has coordinated and overseen cleanup and remediation activities across the country.
Mr. Scherer also frequently represents individuals and businesses, including convenience stores, restaurants and bars, in liquor license applications and enforcement proceedings brought by the New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA).
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Scherer is actively involved in recruiting for and running the law firm’s summer associate program and enjoys judging mock trial competitions for high schools in and around Buffalo.
While attending SUNY Buffalo Law School, Mr. Scherer was the Executive Publication Editor of the Buffalo Law Review.
