The Buffalo office of Lippes Mathias LLP seeks an ambitious attorney with at least two years of experience in Federal Indian Law for a position with our Indian Law Practice Team. Our team provides legal and strategic advice to American Indian tribal governments, tribal courts and other entities committed to advancing tribal sovereignty, self-determination, and economic development in Indian country. To assist with accomplishing our clients’ legal, policy and business goals, our attorneys work with clients to design effective legal strategies, defend tribal rights and formulate innovative approaches to transactional issues. A few of our areas of focus include: cannabis, gaming, Indian lands, sovereignty issues and taxation. 

Strong skills in communication, legal advocacy, and writing are required. Excellent academic credentials are preferred. The attorney selected for this position must be a self-starter and will have the opportunity for direct client contact. 

The successful candidate should be admitted to practice law in one of the states, with the expectation that the candidate will apply for admission in New York after beginning employment with the firm.
