The Albany office of Lippes Mathias LLP is seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active and organized legal or administrative assistant, with an interest in a career in law, to join our team, with growth opportunities. The ideal candidate would have a positive team player outlook and eagerness to learn new challenges. You must be highly organized and extremely attentive to details—especially with proofreading your own and other’s written documents.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage attorney calendars
  • Recording attorney time and maintaining attorney emails
  • Create/maintain electronic file directories
  • Prepare memoranda for opening new matters
  • Assist in the formatting/drafting of legal documents
  • Set up meetings by conference call, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other platforms
  • Proofread correspondence and legal documents
  • Transcribe dictations
  • Prepare and send out transmittal letters
  • Perform general office duties as required

Our ideal Legal Assistant will have:

  • At least 3 year of experience in an office environment or one year as a legal assistant
  • An accurate typing speed of 60+ wpm required
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Reliable attendance
  • Experience with editing, proofreading, revising and drafting documents
  •  High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work product
  • Have a pro-active mindset and
  • Possess “grace under pressure”
