Legal Assistant, Trusts & Estates Practice, Buffalo, NY

The Trust and Estates Practice Group at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the administrative functions of the group. This individual will assist the team in maintaining files, drafting and reviewing letters, exhibits, and legal documents. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Create, maintain, and organize electronic and hard copy files 
  • Save, print, and file document submissions 
  • Maintain closed files 
  • Proofread and edit documents as requested 
  • Prepare memoranda to open new matters 
  • Help track status expirations and renewals 
  • Prepare transmittal cover letters 
  • Create accounting bills and expense reports as needed 
  • Send and track delivery requests as needed 
  • Assist with calendaring critical dates 
 

Our ideal Legal Assistant will have: 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a law firm environment 
  • Accurate typing speed of 65+ wpm 
  • General office and computer experience 
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Experience with editing, revising, and drafting legal documents 
  • Exemplary organizational skills and keen attention to detail 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to multitask and to complete projects with little direction 
  • Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work products
