The Washington, D.C. office of Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate with at least 5 years of experience to work directly with the Firm’s Environment and Energy Practice Team Leader, in support of the practice. 

Our environmental practice is nationwide in scope, with sophisticated clients that include developers, financial institutions, energy companies, manufacturers, private equity funds, Indian tribes, state agencies, and municipalities.  Our team, which includes both lawyers and environmental engineers, advises on the full spectrum of environmental issue areas, and represents our clients before Congress and federal and state agencies. Our work in the renewable energy sector includes performing environmental due diligence; advising on project permitting, land use, and development issues; and assisting on the environmental aspects of the purchase, sale, and financing of renewable energy projects. 

The ideal candidate should have environmental regulatory (e.g., NEPA, CWA, CAA, ESA, RCRA), transactional, and remediation/contamination-related experience. In addition, renewable energy or tribal law experience is a plus.  Strong and effective analytical, writing, and overall communication skills are required (as this position includes a significant amount of direct client contact).

Candidates must be admitted to practice in New York or Washington, D.C.
